Blog: September 11th

Statement

Date: Sept. 11, 2010

September 11th, 2001 will live in the memory of all Americans as the day a cowardly group of murderers carried out a plot to destroy innocent Americans. In doing so, they took the lives of over 3,000 innocent men, women and children.

The 9/11 attack resulted in a focused effort on eliminating the Al Qaeda stronghold in Afghanistan. Ultimately, the terrorist network lost their grip on Afghanistan, several hundred million dollars of terrorist money and many thousands of their own lives as a result. No longer could they take advantage of an impoverished country and people to train for and coordinate their terrorist offensive. The money was also a negative impact as they would now be required to find other funding sources. With their leader, Bin Laden, in perpetual hiding, acquiring such funding would likely prove difficult for Al Qaeda. With so many internal concerns, the least of their worries were the Afghan citizens who lost their lives during the retaliation by the United States. It must be stated that the lives of women and children mean nothing to this pack of animals. Thus is the reason for this writing.

To be clear, as Americans we recognize our freedom of religion as a right to be protected at the greatest expense. Do they have a legal right to build this "victory mosque" at Ground Zero? Yes. However, traditionally accepted as part of all "religious practices," is the act of compassion. The mere idea of construction of the Park 51 Islamic Community Center at Ground Zero demonstrates not only a lack of compassion to the families of the 9/11 victims, but is also offensive to many of us. It is worth noting that the size and scope of the proposed "community center" conveys the appearance of a shrine, a mosque erected to mark a victorious battleground for radical Muslims.

It has been reported that the organizers of the project hope to mark the beginning of construction on September 11, 2011, the 10th anniversary of the original attack.

The space in Lower Manhattan, formerly occupied by the World Trade Center Towers, is hallowed ground in our hearts. It is a grave, but necessary reminder of that day, which lives on in the minds of witnesses. It also serves as a memorial to those who lost their lives.

On the face of it, this appears to be an obvious attempt to use our freedoms against us, exercised as a slap in the face of all Americans, and especially to the families of those slain on 9/11. This is merely an attempt to use our freedoms that they deny in their respective countries as a slap in the face of not just the families of the slain on that horrific day but all Americans. What if we wanted to build a church in Iran? Would we be welcomed? You know the answer to those questions.

Adding insult to injury, the State Department (Hillary Clinton) and President Obama are paying Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the founder of the Park 51 Islamic Community Center, to tour the Middle East, on taxpayer money, as part of an envoy to promote "goodwill" among Muslim nations. One has to wonder if Imam Rauf will use his trip as a fundraising tour for the Park 51 project. He has previously declined to comment on whether or not Middle Eastern money will be used in the effort.

The obvious outfall of this is that the animals behind this project are willing to sacrifice their own women and children to what will undoubtedly be an attack to raise the victims to martyr status. This is the goal to be achieved. The mosque, if it were to be used for religious practices, could be built anywhere. The decision to construct what amounts to a victory memorial on Ground Zero shows a great lack of compassion and will be viewed by many Americans as a provocative act.
